Battlefield 3™
Battlefield 3, already a classical title, is an action game that defined early 2010s. It combines a story of a fictional War of 2014 in the Middle East and multiplayer mode. You still can download Battlefield 3 for Windows or play it on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.
Graphics (5/5)
It’s one of the most realistic shooters ever, though it’s almost a decade old. The first-person perspective takes you into the middle of the combat. The engine is capable of showing incredibly realistic destruction scenes. The characters, the weapons, the environment and the voicing are nearly perfect even from 2019.
Gameplay (5/5)
In the campaign mode, you follow the story of four characters – a U.S. Marine, a tank operator, a Super Hornet weapon system officer, and a GRU operative from Russia. All of them are involved in operations of The War of 2014 that takes place in Iraq and Iran, Azerbaijan and France, and even New York.
There are both open military confrontations and clandestine operations you are to go through, switching from one character to another. Going through the campaign, you will have to complete minor quests. Due to a straightforward script, your choices change little. On the other hand, you can affect combat tactics, choosing the best way to complete your quests.
If you are not into all those intelligence stories, you can go plain shooting in multiplayer mode. There are four classes available: Assault, Support, Engineer and Recon, with special abilities and skills for each. The game also offers various modes, like Squad or Team Deathmatch, Rush, Squad Rush, or Conquest, with diverse missions.
Controls (5/5)
The game is equally well adapted for either keyboard-and-mouse set or DualShock/Xbox controller. First person shooters are considered to be more precise when you’re on keyboard and mouse. So there are separate multiplayer zones for console players and those on PC.
Replay Value (5/5)
While the campaign has only one ending due to quite cinematic script, Battlefield 3 in multiplayer mode is much more replayable. It still has lots of players on its servers, searching for partners or opponents. The game has various modes, implying you need to extinguish the opponents, to capture the checkpoint, to reach a certain score first, and so on. This variety contributes into the overall replayability. The developers understand it, offering more DLC to enhance the multiplayer experience.
The Bottom Line
Battlefield 3 is still considered the best installment of the series due to the most advanced gameplay and at least decent visuals. Some consider it better than the following Battlefield 4. Oriental cities and Western weapons, spy games and combat mutual help, missions to complete and fails to never escape – they create the atmosphere worth bringing your PS3 back from the attic.
Conclusion
Though Battlefield 3 was not ported to new generation consoles, you can download Battlefield 3 for PC, as well as return to older consoles just to play it.

Realistic combats and characters’ behavior.
Lots of multiplayer modes.
Multiplayer balanced by separating PC and console players.
More maps, weapons and missions in DLC.
